README
Machine brain
One place to find the journals, system facts, settings and reference notes that
used to be scattered across ~/journal.md, BookStack (pdb.seabee.me), the
Obsidian vault in Sync/Stuff, and each project's own docs.
Canonical format: plain Markdown files in this git repo. No database, no API. Any editor can read it, any LLM can read and write it with normal file tools.
Layout
| Folder | Holds | Examples |
|---|---|---|
00-inbox/ |
Unsorted capture. Empty it weekly. | a phone note, a pasted error |
10-journal/ |
Time-ordered writing | ops-journal.md, decisions.md |
20-systems/ |
How this machine and its services work | cbcore.md, domains.md |
30-projects/ |
One hub note per project/repo | helios-analytics.md |
40-reference/ |
Evergreen reference (was BookStack) | health, photography, accounts |
90-meta/ |
How the brain itself works | conventions.md |
Project code does not live here. 30-projects/ holds a short hub note that
says what the project is, where the repo is, how to run it, and what the open
questions are. The code stays in its own git repo.
Browsing
- Desktop: open this folder as a vault in Obsidian
(
Sync/Stuff/Linux App Images/Obsidian.AppImage). Graph view, backlinks, search, daily notes. - Phone: add this folder as its own Syncthing folder shared only with your devices, then open the same folder as a vault on mobile.
- Web: optional read-only render (Quartz/MkDocs) later, or publish into
pdb.seabee.me. The files here stay the source of truth either way.
LLM access
Point any agent at this folder. It should read AGENTS.md first and llms.txt
for the map. Nothing else is required: rg, git diff and normal file writes
all work.
History
git log is the audit trail. Commit after every meaningful edit:
git add -A && git commit -m "journal: <what changed>"
